    My favourite aspect about the Mari Jean was that for any gay traveller, this was a great one stop shop option as the property houses COCKtail bar (the most popular gay bar in St.

    Pete), The Wet Spot pool area and pool bar (which does a drag brunch once a month), a gay shop called The Back Door and also a second bar called The Saint.

  • Allelo – this is an upscale Mediterranean-Aegean restaurant located on Central Avenue. The lobby bar is a fun hangout spot, and the rooftop terrace is perfect for pre-drinks before hitting the town. In all cases, we'd love to hear from you!

    As mentioned above, this is all connected but with The Wet Spot, you can also visit in the afternoon and buy a day pass to chill by the pool and hang out at the bar (no pass needed for Mari Jean Hotel guests).

    On the third Sunday of each month The Wet Spot hosts a drag brunch which then runs into a T Dance later on in the afternoon/early evening – again, it felt like this was the place to be on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

    Enigma

    Very much akin to COCKtail in the sense that you can come here to drink, dance and watch a good drag show.

    I visited early on Friday evening and the bar was very busy, with a few queens performing and getting some audience participation which was very entertaining to watch!

      Where to eat in St. Pete

      There were some great options in St.

      Pete and whilst I am normally more excited for the main course, at two of my meals I had some of the best desserts I have had in a long time!

      Here is a run down of places I ate at and recommend:

      • Valkyrie Doughnuts (LGBTQ+ owned) – if you have a sweet tooth and want something decadent then take a look at this bakery.

        They are intelligent animals and I am told they recognise the noise the engine and as a result (and as I saw) they come swimming up alongside the boat to play!

        Book the last sailing of the day to enjoy some sunset views of St. Pete upon return.

        Did we get something wrong? Ideally, you should choose a few small plates and share, everything we chose was incredible and the dessert of baklava cheesecake was one of the best I’ve had in a long time.
