You can’t be BIPOC and queer, that’s just too many marginalizations. But it’s important for non-people-of-color to realize the lived experiences of those unlike them. The intersection of race creates additional barriers like access to healthcare, medication and a proximity to higher infection rates. Among White LGBT adults, 27% report current smoking and 9% report heavy drinking, compared to 18% and 7% of non-LGBT adults, respectively.
