• Suicide: Gay, lesbian, and bisexual youth are 4 times more likely to attempt suicide than their heterosexual counterparts.[3]

  schools are often subjected to such intense bullying that they’re unable to receive an adequate education.

  

  You can also brainstorm things your club would like to do this year. Educate yourself! One-third who reported an incident said the staff did nothing in response. A rash of gay suicides in 2011 proves how deadly gay bullying can be.

  While trying to deal with all the challenges of being a teenager, lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender (LGBT) teens also have to deal with harassment, threats and violence directed at them on a daily basis.

  LGBT youth are nearly twice as likely to be called names, verbally harassed or physically assaulted at school compared to their non-LGBT peers.

  Many people do not understand what it means to be transgender, which can lead to isolation and loneliness.

  Trans individuals  are at a greater risk both physical and sexual. Mental health disorders, psychological distress, and suicidality in a diverse sample of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youths. [1]

• LGBT youth who reported they were frequently harassed in school had lower grade point averages than students who were less often harassed.

  Adult bullies are more likely to use verbal bullying than physical bullying but the result is the same: their attempt to humiliate and gain power over their target.

  Stop Gay Bullying – How People Are Working to Stop Gay Bashing

  Many organizations are dedicated to stop gay bashing and gay bullying and there are more and more initiatives locally, like in high schools, to stop gay bashing.
